THE Cartmel commmunity joined together for a party in the garden of the Royal Oak Pub to support St Mary's Hospice and Cartmel In Bloom while also having lots of fun dancing, eating and playing games.
Music was provided by Smooth Chalk while anyone could join DJ Windy & The Cotton Town Swing Dancers for a ‘30s and ‘40s dance in the marquee.
The management and staff of the Royal Oak, as well as many of the guests, were in period costume with inspiration from Dad's Army being obvious. First prize for best costume went to horticulturalist and landscape designer Sarah Byrne.
Meanwhile, Jo Ward of Tilly's Face Painting gave much pleasure to young and old with her art.
