The Met Office has issued a Lake District-wide weather warning for the weekend.
Persistent and heavy rain is predicted which could lead to flooding.
Thunderstorms are also expected, posing a potentially serious risk to anybody undertaking outdoor activities.
A statement from the Met Office said: "An area of persistent and at times heavy rain will move north across the area. Additionally strong winds will affect many areas for a time, with the risk of gales over some coasts and hills.
"The public should be aware of the risk of localised flooding and of disruption to transport and outdoor activities."
