Kendal speed limit could be slashed to 20mph

First published in News

SPEED limits in all or parts of Kendal could be slashed after town councillors agreed to consider a ‘Twenty’s Plenty’ campaign.

A Task Group was set up to look into the idea of working with Cumbria County Council to reduce the speed limit in the town to 20mph.

Coun Giles Archibald said that in other areas, Twenty’s Plenty had reduced the number of accidents as well as noise and pollution levels.

Speed limit slashed to 20 mph? I dream of driving through Kendal to work at 20 mph. Normally it's one queue after another!

It should already be 20mph where i live between 2 schools, yet the parents dropping children off think they can speed away at 35mph, ignorant of the people that live there and other children walking to school

This will only work if the police are around to prosecute those who break the limit. Otherwise all the extra signs will just be a waste of money because people ignore them.

Can we have some confirmation as to whether this is going to be an expansion of the totally useless 20's plenty sign campaign...or if the speed limit is going to be legally dropped to 20mph. As usual...great reporting by the utterly useless WG.

Maybe leaving all the potholes and badly repaired road surfaces is an easier and cheaper way of doing it!!!
