BACKGROUND: I’m almost Cumbrian having been here since I was seven, initially in the West Coast and now the South Lakes.
FIRST JOB: Ice cream vendor at 14, then after school I moved in to technical theatre, it taught me how to work under pressure, and work though complex design and construction process.
QUALIFICATION: I hold a BA Hon’s in technical theatre, but eventually moved to professional sailing, as a qualified captain and engineer.
Problem solving at sea, utilising only what you have around you and team work.
SKILLS: Drive, passion, and dogged the belief that we can design and build what hasn’t been done before.
BEST BUSINESS MEMORY Our first complex Lithium electric boat hitting 20 knots.
BEST BUSINESS ADVICE: Put a good team around you, and that raising finance is difficult but achievable with the right idea.
