MODERN day treasure hunter Drew Pritchard will be delving into the Lakeland Motor Museum’s collection of motoring memorabilia in search of some hidden gems, in a new programme due to hit TV screens next month.

One of the UK's top decorative antique dealers, Drew regularly criss-crosses the country on the hunt for elusive treasures for Quest TV’s ‘Salvage Hunters’ - the highest-rated programme on the Discovery network in this country.

In an episode to be screened on October 9, he will be seen at the Lake District attraction searching for weird and wonderful objects among the collectables currently not on show at the Museum.

The Lakeland Motor Museum at Backbarrow already displays 30,000 exhibits, including 150 classic cars and motorbikes - all carefully assembled over 50 years. However, there plenty more items currently held in storage off-site and this is where the TV treasure hunter focused his efforts to unearth some forgotten gems.

Chris Lowe, operations manager, said: “Drew spent a day with us earlier this summer on his quest to unearth rare and beautiful items which aren’t currently on public view.

"There are lots of items tucked away in storage which – for one reason or another – don’t fit into the overall look and feel of the Museum. So we were over the moon to have the opportunity to find a new home for some of these pieces, and we’re pleased to be using the funds raised to improve the Museum’s existing displays.”
