THERE has been a flurry of openings, re-developments and anniversaries in Kendal's Elephant Yard.
South Lakes MP Tim Farron and Kendal Mayor Cllr Tom Clare cut the ribbon on several new stores in the pedestrianised retail zone.
Natwest celebrated its 150th anniversary in the town and Costa Coffee unveiled its newly-extended cafe which has increased from 48 covers to 116.
The family run equestrian shop, Todds, moved to Elephant Yard as part of an expansion and the charity Jump Into Kendal opened a base in the town.
Tim Farron said: "You don't have to go far to realise Kendal is the most successful town within an hour's drive. Kendal is going forward and businesses have the confidence to expand. We have to celebrate this but there is work still to be done."
