Furness College staff and students celebrated Christmas in style with a festive week which included Christmas card donations, a Christmas Fair, charity football competition and Santa’s Dash which helped to raise £1,300 for two local charities St. Mary’s Hospice and the Food Bank.

The charity football match saw staff from all areas of the college taking part and joining in the festive spirit even through competitiveness also played a part. The staff were very well supported by a vocal audience of both staff and students.

The Christmas Fair saw staff and students baking madly to produce both savoury and sweet delights and a host of other stalls including a tombola and raffle, plaques, craft and leather, Special Occasions, Wavy Grain - wooden hand crafted boards and kitchen ware, bespoke wood craft and clocks, authentic handmade German decorations, handmade cards, buzzer game, jewellery, Xmas present wrapping, scarves, bottle stall, festive nails and hair, Hook a Star, movie quotes games, teddy raffle and memorial tree. Staff and students also made up a Furness College Choir which raised the rafters with a range of festive music and carols.

Anne Attwood, Principal said: ”I am very proud to see that once again our staff and students have pulled together to create a fantastic range of events and helped to raise money for two very deserving charities.”
