THE hunt is on for thieves who smashed their way into a jewellery shop and made off with £25,000 of precious stones and metals.
At 3.17am on Friday, December 19, two men in their twenties used a home made implement to break into Johnston's jewellery store on Main Street in Grange-over-Sands.
Both men were wearing dark clothing and baseball caps.
They stole thousands of pounds worth of gold chains, gem stones and diamonds before exiting through the rear of the store and fleeing in the direction of the town centre.
Police are advising people to be on the look out for 'dubious sources' selling jewellery in the area and advise anybody with information regarding the incident to contact them on 101 and ask for DC Jack Montague.
Alternatively, anonymous reports can be made by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
