INSTALLING a flue for a woodburning stove would have a 'negative impact' on a Grade ll listed cottage, planners decided.
Applicant Jenny Claxton told South Lakeland District Council that she wanted to install a multi-fuel stove in the dining room of Toll Bar Cottage, New Hutton, because it was north-west facing and very cold.
Her application explained that the stove would bring sustainable warmth to the exposed property and make it a 'nicer place to live'.
However, planners decided that the matt-black flue would break up a large expanse of roof and have a negative impact on the historically significant cottage.
