CUMBRIAN-based Harrison and Hetherington (H&H) has just a week left to make a firm offer for the North East auction mart company John Swan.
H&H, which operates marts in Carlisle, Kirkby Stephen and Broughton-in-Furness, made an informal approach to Swan on December 19, offering £13.50 a share, with a partial share alternative.
The offer valued Swan, which operates auction sites at Wooler and St Boswell's, at £8.2 million.
H&H must now announce a firm intention to make an offer by 5pm on January 15.
