A KENDAL woman who was reported missing this morning has been found 'safe and well', say police.

Kendal Police tweeted just after 2.30pm that Michelle Jackson, of the Kendal Parks area, had been found and the force thanked 'everyone for all [their] support'.

She had last been seen at 7pm yesterday (February 12) but was found today in Kendal.

A helicopter was involved in the search this morning (February 13) for the 42-year-old, described as 'high-risk'.

Witnesses reported seeing a helicopter  flying low over fields, woods and the River Kent in the Sedgwick and Natland area at around 9am for a number of hours.

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team said two of their search dogs Einiche and Bute were also involved.

A spokesperson from Kendal Mountain Rescue Team said they were called out at 4.15am today to assist in the search.

They were joined by Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team and the RAF search and rescue helicopter.

Teams stood down at 2.30pm.
