AN ELDERLY cyclist who died after falling from his bike into oncoming traffic in Lancashire has been named.

Alexander William Clark, 87, of Bolton-le-Sands was cycling in the direction of Carnforth on the A6 at in the village on Friday (March 6) when he fell into the path of a blue Volvo ZC70 at around 4.30pm.

Mr Clark suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he died.

Lancashire Constabulary are appealing for witnesses.

PS Rob Gomery, of the West Road Policing Unit, said: “This is a tragic accident where a man has sadly lost his life and my thoughts are with his family and friends.

"An investigation to establish how the incident occurred is underway and I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened to contact us on 101.”
