A PLANNED under-18s night at Passions, Kendal, tonight (Friday) has been cancelled, with the organiser blaming "unforeseen negative responses and lack of support from Kendal police."
Manager Tina Clark said: "I feel very disheartened that I feel I'm bring forced to cancel this event because I received so much positive support from the public."
But Kendal Police have denied Mrs Clark's comments, with Community Sergeant Susannah Scott O'Neill saying they had simply asked some questions about how the event would be organised.
"We said we would put extra resources down there tonight for the young people's safety," she said.
Inspector Paul Latham, of Kendal Police, also said: "We will support and work with anybody for events, but we must adequately and properly safeguard children."
