MEMBERS and supporters of Arnside Horticultural Society enjoyed a feast of colour at the 24th annual Spring Show.

Visitors packed into the WI Hall on Saturday to peruse a display of daffodils, spring flowers, plants and floral art.

Treasurer John Allen was particularly impressed by the number of Hellebore Heads on display this year.

“There were some beautiful examples of planted containers and an impressive display of Spring bulbs,” he added.

Ronnie Holmes won the prize for the most points in the potted plants section with Phyllis Jackson winning the cup for best exhibit in that section.

Exhibitor Phyllis Jackson had a very successful show, winning the prize for best horticultural exhibit, as well as being awarded with both the most points and best exhibit in the cut flowers category.

The most points in all of the flower classes were awarded to Ronnie Holmes, who took home the challenge cup for the most points in show.

Christine Nunn won the most points in the floral art section, while Diane Mycock was awarded most points in the cookery category.

Children from Arnside School produced impressive displays of spring bulbs, art and craft work, and cookery.

The Vegesaurus section for a Dinosaur made from vegetable was won by Caitlin Hunt.

Eva Blyth won the first prize for a hand painted stone, the three Easter cup cakes category was won by Jack Owen and Annabel Wilson was victorious in the miniature garden in a plastic tray class.
