COMMUNITY groups in Eden are set to benefit to the tune of £15,000 following grants agreed by local county councillors.
At total of £12,417 was awarded to 10 projects chosen by councillors to receive support from their Local Member Scheme budgets.
These budgets, set at £5000 a year, allow local councillors to provide financial support to groups in their electoral division.
Among the groups set to receive grants are Friends of Orton CofE Primary School which is to get £500 towards a cycle shelter; Tebay Parish Council awarded £1,000 towards refurbishing the village tennis court and £4,000 to Warcop New Village Hall towards building a footpath from the car park to the primary school. Asby Parish Council will also get £750 to help buy a speed indicator device.
Councillors also agreed a £3,000 grant, from the committee’s 0-19 budget, to Orton Parish Council Playground Committee towards the cost of a new piece of play equipment for the village play area.
