Representing Willan, Suzie Kavanagh said he was on his way back from a delivery in Cockermouth and suffered "a momentary lapse in concentration."

Ms Kavanagh said that the defendant was wearing leg supports, and added: "He went to scratch his leg and the vehicle jerked."

Willan admitted failing to stop after an accident, failing to report the accident and driving without due care and attention.

His licence was endorsed and he was ordered to pay a £250 fine, £85 costs and a £25 victim surcharge.
