MORE than 20 teams of youngsters took part in Kendal's revived snowsports races.

Kendal Snowsports Club hosted only its second Primary Schools Race Evening since 1990 which saw pupils from ten schools go head to head in relays on two slalom courses.

"The whole event ran smoothly with the assistance of over 25 volunteer helpers and instructors and support from the viewing gallery added to the atmosphere as friends, teachers, parents and grandparents cheered on their teams," said events organiser Tracy Oncal.

Kendal's Vicarage Park CE School won the trophy for the Year 6 and under category with Ghyllside Primary School in second and Selside CofE Primary School in third.

Selside also came up trumps for the Year 3 and under category with Staveley CE Primary School in second place and Ghyllside third.

Competitors were praised for their 'great deal of talent and sportsmanship'.

There was even a well represented race for teachers to add to the fun.

The secondary school race evening will take place on Monday (April 27).
