A TEAM of inspirational wounded servicemen and women will be taking part in Walking With The Wounded’s (WWTW) annual Lake District event.

The Cumbrian Challenge, in Grasmere, will be the Walk of Britain team’s first public appearance together since launching their expedition with Prince Harry.

The Prince will be joining the team on part of their 1,000-mile trek around Britain in August and September this year.

The five will be giving a motivational Q&A talk at the Friday night registration of the Cumbrian Challenge, before joining participants on the fells on the Saturday (May 16).

WWTW launched the Cumbrian Challenge in 2013 and it has quickly become a firm annual fundraising fixture.

This year it is aiming to support a further 200 wounded veterans into work, one for every team of four taking part.

At last year’s event, the Tougher course won by a team from the Gurkha regiment and the Tough course won by a team from Speedflex gyms, including wounded veteran Ibrar Ali.

Mr Ali, who was part of Walking With The Wounded’s South Pole expedition team, said: “The Lake District is such a beautiful place to visit that you almost forget the tough nature of the challenge.”

Walking With The Wounded co-founder and CEO Ed Parker said: “The Cumbrian Challenge is the charity’s flagship event and everyone who takes part really feels like they have achieved something.”
