TREES which were planted in Far Sawrey as a memorial to fallen soldiers in both World Wars have been replaced.
Thirteen trees were originally planted in the small village as a memorial to the fallen in both World Wars - 11 to remember those lost in WWI and two for those of WWII.
Over the years some of the trees were damaged and it was decided to replace them.
Among them are a Macedonian Pine; a Variegated Maple; a Copper Beech; a Paul Scarlett; a Japanese Maple and a Copper Maple.
The trees were donated by the Forestry Commission, the Hawkshead branch of The Royal British Legion and Roland Shuttleworth.
The stock-proof fence was provided and built by members of the Grizedale Forestry Commission.
A dedication service was led by the Rev. John Dixon and was followed by tea and cakes in Braithwaite Hall.
