YOU can understand why the Yorkshire Dales continue to prove an amazing draw for visitors from near and far.
In his topographical journey, Mike Appleton represents the essence of a magical limestone world through 50 natural and man-made locations, each of which is stunning in its own way.
They are largely contained within the Yorkshire Dales National Park boundary and among the 'gems' are caves, peaks, waterfalls, viaducts, churches and castles.
Half of those featured are clustered in the western Dales and they include iconic locations such as Ingleborough, Ribblehead Viaduct, Buttertubs Pass and the market town of Hawes.
The remaining locations, spread out over the north, south and east of the Dales, include spots like Bolton Castle, Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater, Stump Cross Caverns and Bolton Abbey.
Among the less well known landscape features are Yordas Cave near Thornton-in-Lonsdale, the Cheese Press Stone near Ingleborough and Hoffmann Kiln at Langcliffe.
The book is stunningly illustrated with 70 colour photographs.
