A CYCLE ride covering the distance between Windermere and Warsaw has raised £1,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust without the bikers leaving the Lake District.

It was organised by the Windermere-based personnel development company Impact International, which has an office in the Polish capital.

Six riders, including South Lakes mountaineer Leo Houlding, completed the 'virtual' 1,264 miles over 48 hours during Impact's annual festival of learning - Learnfest 2015

Impact will be working closely with the Teenage Cancer Trust throughout 2015 to raise vital funds and offering other support.

Emma Cross from Impact said: "We will be using our expertise in facilitation and plan to deliver a series of workshops at Teenage Cancer Trust’s annual event ‘Find Your Sense of Tumour’ - an inspirational conference for young people who have had cancer.

"We are also hoping to run our third family day for patients and families in the North West; and also support with spreading awareness in our local area about the Teenage Cancer Trust services through various educational initiatives."
