A GROUP of paintings once owned by Beatrix Potter and locked away in the attic at Kendal Town Hall for many years is set to cause a stir in a new exhibition.
The Tale of the Beatrix Potter Bequest brings together what would at first appear to be a random collection of works once owned by the world famous children's author whose life has recently been portrayed in a Hollywood movie.
However, as the organisers explained, the artists behind the paintings influenced Beatrix Potter in her own work, while a number of the exhibits are of considerable artistic importance in their own right.
In a further exciting twist, a selection of paintings by the author herself has also been loaned for the exhibition, which it is hoped will attract a large number of visitors to Kendal Museum over the coming months.
Kendal Museum is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, from noon to 5pm.
