EMERGENCY services were called to a Kendal estate after a man fell from the first floor of a house under construction.

The incident is believed to have taken place at Cragg Close on the Sandylands estate at around 3.45pm yesterday (July 23).

The North Weat Air Ambulance Service stated that a 34-year-old man was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital with leg injuries after the fall.

The condition of the fall victim, who was airlifted to hospital, is not known.

Fire crews, police and ambulance teams also attended the scene.

It is understood the homes are being built by South Lakeland-developer Russell Armer, in partnership with hosuing association Impact Housing.

Martyn Nicholson, managing director of Russell Armer, told The Westmorland Gazette: "The man fell from the first floor to the ground floor.

"Our thoughts are with the injured person and we would like to give a big thanks to the emergency services and air ambulance team."

The Health and Safety Executive told the Gazette that they had not had a report of the incident yet.

Cragg Close will eventually comprise 94 properties in a scheme costing £10.6 million.

Forty seven of the homes will be 'affordable homes' owned by Impact Housing.
