CLOTHES aren't the only things that are stylish on this year's Great British Bake Off.

As ever, just about everything on that sweetly addictive weekly instalment is stylised.

From the marquee set in perfectly picturesque grounds, envy-inducing retro equipment and the gingham 'alter' to the pristine presenters, well turned out contestants and impressive signature bakes (just take bread week's lion...).

It's hard not to feel inadequate just watching it from the comfort of your 'unstylish' home, in the comfort of your very unfashionable 'house pants' - but we love it anyway.

And if we're not judging cakes and bakes from our position of assumed authority, stemming from some sort of recently achieved expertise (that by the way doesn't exist - believe me I've tried and tested it), we're scrutinising in the fashion stakes.

In this area of the competition it is almost always Mary Berry, at a modest 80 years of age, that comes in at first place.

A fashion icon in her own right, this pensioner certainly steals the limelight from the ill-fitting jeans wearing, blazer clad kooky duo Mel and Sue.

Forget quantities, qualities and time-in-the-ovens because if Mary has one thing to teach us all on GBBO it's that age doesn't have to mark the end of style.

Somewhere between sophisticated lady and Brick Lane hipster, never would you find Mary in your gran's church-ready, dowdy peach combo and a pair of beige shoes that hiss as you walk.

It is more likely you'll find Mrs Berry in striking bomber jackets, cute jumpers and statement blazers.

Topshop has the ultimate in your face bomber jacket at £55.

Balancing sporty shapes with bold florals, this colourful piece is the perfect addition to any outfit.

Match with high waisted 80s style jeans and a white tee for a Saved by the Bell inspired finish.

Or why not go for Marks and Spencer's sophisticated single breasted blazer at £75.

This mustard coloured jacket is subtly clean cut and perfect for work.

Match with something simple - a one colour cami or blouse - and a pair of chinos.
