The Pigwilly Wood project, worth £74,000, will take place on September 14 and 15. The second project between Meathop roundabout and the junction for Witherslack will cost £56,000 and will be carried out on September 21 and 22.

On each of the four nights the eastbound carriageway will close between 8pm and 6am with clearly-signed diversions in place.

There are two diversion options for the Brettargh Holt to M6 eastbound closure with traffic able to join the M6 at junction 36 via the northbound A591 and A6 towards Kendal and the southbound A65. Drivers can also join the southbound M6 at junction 35 at Carnforth by joining the southbound A6 from the A590 at Levens.

During the closure of the eastbound carriageway between Meathop roundabout and the junction for Witherslack drivers heading for the M6 will need to leave the A590 at Newby Bridge - taking the northbound A592 up to Windermere and then the A591 towards Kendal and then the southbound A591, rejoining the A590 at Brettargh Holt roundabout.
