POLICE are currently investigating after the body of a man was discovered in the river at Haverigg Harbour.

Andrew Bird, 27, was discovered at 7.40pm on Thursday, September 24, after the alarm was raised by a member of the public.

Mr Bird, of Holborn Hill, Millom, was removed from the river by members of the public and police officers, but unfortunately efforts to revive Mr Bird were unsuccessful. 

While his death is not being formally treated as suspicious, police are investigating the circumstances of his death. 

Police have spoken to a number of people in the Haverigg area, but are keen to hear from anyone else who may have been in the Haverigg area at the time and date in question and who may have information that would assist police enquiries.
