We are just starting The Bay Prostate Cancer Support Group’s 2015/16 12-month programme. We might see some of you who have some issues with your waterworks or who are newly diagnosed with Prostate Cancer.
Prostate cancer is treatable, despite the large number of men each year nationally who find that they have this disease. The treatments available are many and tailored to your personal requirements.
Within our group we have a wide selection of men who are living proof that the vinegar and brown paper, or whatever the consultant has prescribed really works.
The same form of attack is not used for each person - we are all different. Its horses for courses but we will have someone that will have had one or other type of treatment and can tell you how it works for them down on street level.
As you can see if you care to scan though our programme, we try to give a spread of topics with a good selection of clinical ones mixed with general interest.
Always after the guest speaker, we get together in the lounge at Slynedales for tea and sticky buns and talk though any issues that might have happened either to you personally or what has been reported in the press.
We are a patient-led group but have good contacts in urology and oncology should any questions stump us.
All are welcome - patient, spouse/partner, whatever. It’s on the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm at Cancer Care, Slyndales, Slyne Road, next door to the hospice.
There is no charge, just bring yourself and a smile. As a reward, should you choose to come and see us we will give you your very own copy of the programme.
