A SHOPPER helped himself to seven or eight packs of steak from Marks and Spencer, Kendal, and left without paying, a court heard.
Dean Benson, 39, of Burneside Road, Kendal, was seen on CCTV by the store manager.
He pleaded guilty to theft when he appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates Court.

District judge Gerald Chalk said that Benson had just served a prison sentence. "Thieving meat is not a good start," he told Benson. "It's got to stop."
Benson was fined £120 and told to pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and £150 court charges.
