POLICE are appealing for information after cash was stolen from a pizza takeaway when a property was ram-raided in Morecambe.

Between midnight and 9am on Friday, November 6, a vehicle was used to ram-raid the doors to an empty building next to Domino’s in Hilmore Way.

Once inside offenders have used cutting equipment to make a hole in a wall which separates the takeaway from the neighbouring property, allowing entry to a rear office and safe.

An angle grinder or similar has then been used to carve a hole in the top of the safe before around £5,000 in cash was taken.

The individuals then left through the same entry point.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information to contact officers.

DC Sam Johnson of Lancaster CID said: “This was a well-planned theft which resulted in thousands of pounds being stolen from a takeaway.

“The equipment used to gain entry is likely to have caused a significant amount of noise and we would like to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard anything to contact police.”

Anyone with information can contact Lancashire Police on 101 quoting crime number WB1509074.

Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.
