Tuesday 17th November. Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their weekly sale of Prime Sheep on Tuesday night when an entry of 2,924 sheep were forward consisting of 2,206 prime lambs and 718 cast ewes and rams. Topping the lambs at £100.80 (214.5p/kg) were a pair of Beltex cross lambs from Messrs Dodd, West View, Temple Sowerby which were bought by Steadman’s Butchers, Kirkby Stephen. The best quality lambs and any good meated sheep of all breeds and weight were still very good to sell with those types being similar on the week.

An increased entry of cast sheep were forward with all classes selling to what can only be described as a flying trade; with many of the strong best types of cast sheep being at least a good £10-£15 up on the week. Topping the sale at £126.50 was a Texel Ram from Messrs High, North Corn Park which was purchased by Riley Bros.
