THE Flying Scotsman's journey along the Settle to Carlisle line on Saturday has been cancelled due to mechanical problems.

Although the world's most famous steam locomotive came through a test run last weekend unscathed, there have been reports of brake issues meaning it has had to be withdraw from Saturday's plans.

Two smaller engines will now haul carriages along the line instead.
