BBC’s Countryfile will take a walk with wolves in South Lakeland this weekend as part of a winter special episode.
Presenter John Craven was invited by the Predator Experience at Ayside, near Grange, to meet wolf hybrids Maska and Kajika, to learn a little more about the creatures.
Dee Ashton, who runs the business with partner Daniel, said: “They came up to do a piece on the role of wolves in eco-systems and the differences between dogs and wolves.
“Wolves are labelled as evil characters that eat people when they are actually very shy and thoughtful animals.”
John Craven met Maska and Kajika at Witherslack Woodlands and was captivated with the animals.
“He was very interested in the conservation angle and the concept of dogs having arrested development which means they mentally never stop being a puppy,” said Dee. “A wolf would never ask you to do something for them, they will do it themselves. They are problem solvers.”
Countryfile’s winter special will be on BBC 1 on Sunday at 7pm.
