A FATHER and son team from Kendal are set to shrug off weary legs as they attempt to travel the length of the UK on a tandem bicycle to raise cash for a charity close to their hearts.
Steve Launder and son Connor, aged ten, are already practising for their epic journey from Land's End to John O'Groats on the lanes and roads around South Lakeland.
The pair, who will set off from the famous Cornish point of Land's End on Sunday, August 5, hope to cycle around 80 miles every day to be greeted by a welcoming party in Carlisle by Sunday, August 12.
They will then set off through Scotland to complete the 983-mile journey before reaching John O'Groats some 18 days later.
In return for their efforts this year, Mr Launder and Connor, a pupil at Old Hutton Primary School who is set to start Queen Elisabeth School in Kirkby Lonsdale in September, are hoping to raise money through sponsorship for the Maddie McGregor Fund.
