KENDAL mountain rescue were called out yesterday evening to a pair of walker who had become cragfast on Star Crag, part of the Kentmere horseshoe.

The team were contacted by police after cries of help were heard by nearby walkers on Yoke.

A team was sent on from the reservoir to ascend the crag, whilst another team were sent in via the Gaburn pass to descend.

The teams reported that it was a relatively easy rescue, and both stranded walkers were safely helped to the summit.

They were then driven back to their car in Kentmere in mountain rescue vehicles.
