AN award-winning Kendal cinematographer has just returned from a round-the-world trip, during which he shot a trailer for a new series.

Matthew Wood, 19, went to China, New York, Barbados and Switzerland to film a one and a half minute clip for his latest work - The Life of Noah.

Matthew, who attends Kendal College, has already won the Osprey Short Film Award in 2013 and 2014, having been runner-up in 2012, and is hoping his newsest venture, based on the explouts of a time traveller, will really take-off.

The dedicated film maker worked at Kendal's Aldi store for two months to raise the £1,500 needed to complete his trip, despite also having to complete his studies at the college.

The trailer is online and can be viewed here:  www.kickstarter.com/projects/350408746/life-of-noah

Matthew is hoping his trailer and stellar CV will attract a £17,000 investment in his work so that The Life of Noah, a 20 episode series that 'takes realism to the next level', can become a reality.

Matthew said: "A lot of people have been in touch to say they're really enjoying it. We've raised nearly £500 in the last three days.

"It's exciting times."

He was joined on his globe-trotting exploits by Guiseppe Abba, 18, also of Kendal College, and Emily Humble, 18, from Queen Katherine School, and the trio attracted quite a crowd no matter where in the world they were.

"One scene involved skiing in shorts and a t-shirt in Switzerland, so people were quite surprised by that," said Matthew.

"There were massive crowds in China too because everyone wanted to know what we were doing."

Matthew's passion for film started when he was just seven years old.

He went to watch Wallace and Gromit at the cinema and started making animations of his own.
