ESSENTIAL maintenance work being carried out by Cumbria County Council on the A684 in Sedbergh starts today.
The work, which involves replacing worn-out sections of road with a new surface, is scheduled to start on Monday April 25 and is expected to last for 14 days, excluding weekends.
Station Road will be resurfaced from the junction with Queens Drive to the mini roundabout at the Finkle Street / Back Lane junction.
The works will be carried out in phases and it will be necessary to close sections of the road to allow the works to be safely carried out. Signed diversions will be in place.
MORE TOP STORIES: A CCC spokesman said: "We will be working with our contractor to minimise disruption and ensure the work is completed as soon as possible. Most of the resurfacing works will be carried out during the day although there will be occasions when night-time work will be required and we apologise for any inconvenience that will be caused.
"Letters have been sent to local residents informing them of the works and the council and our contractor will work with local residents and businesses to maintain access to properties wherever possible and address any specific issues during this period."
Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained throughout this period.
