A CHARITY concert in Bowness has extended its line-up in response to popular demand for the event.

Rock On Windermere has added Manchester legends 10cc to the bill. They will play the extra night on Sunday, after Status Quo headline on the Saturday.

The concerts, which have been organised by Windermere Rotary Club, are to take place on June 17-19 at the Glebe.

Commenting on the events, Status Quo frontman Francis Rossi said: “This is going to be a fantastic weekend of music, with some amazing acts in the line-up. The Lake District is a beautiful part of England and we’re looking forward to visiting Windermere as part of our final electric tour.

"The Rotary Club has pulled out all the stops putting this charity weekend together for some really worthwhile causes, and we’re excited to be part of it.”

Friday night sees “Elvis” on the Glebe stage in the form of multi-award winning impersonator Gordon Hendricks, critically acclaimed as the best impersonator of 'The King'.

Elvis’s band member John Wilkinson said of Hendricks: “He has the looks of Elvis. He moves like Elvis and he sounds like Elvis”.

Completing Friday’s line-up are Abba tribute band PLATINUM. Performing hits including ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘ Knowing Me Knowing You’, ‘Super Trouper’, ‘Fernando’ and‘Take a Chance on Me.’

On Saturday, Status Quo will be supported by Toploader, Sean Webster and Jagged Edge. It will be the first and last time Status Quo will perform in the Lakes in their 50 years as a band, having recently announced plans to retire.

The weekend concludes with 10cc of ‘I’m Not In Love’ and ‘Rubber Bullets’ fame, with two local bands, The Amazing Kappa Band and the Fabulous Picasso Bothers, completing the line-up.

Michael Blackledge, president of Windermere Rotary Club, said: “This event has been in the planning since the 2015 floods – and what better way to celebrate the resilience of the local people than with this amazing line-up of music legends.

"There’s something for everyone and we’ve been amazed by the support of the bands, local businesses and people. We hope that families and music lovers alike from all over the country will come and celebrate the Lakes with us.”

The concerts are to be sponsored by local company Lakeland, the kitchenware specialists.
