MORE than 400 ladies of all ages took part in the tenth annual St Mary’s Hospice Walk to Remember, which is expected to raise up to £300,000 for the charity in Ulverston.
It was the last Walk to Remember, with the Hospice determined to try something new next year as their biggest fund-raising effort.
Many of the walkers decorated their T-shirts with photographs of loved ones who had been cared for at the hospice, and had inspired them to make the 10-mile trek from Ulverston to the finish at the Furness Academy.
The event is sponsored by Furness Building Society and mascot Furry Ness was on hand to hand out high fives and hugs, and to join in the warm up session before the walk, with music provided by Bay Radio’s Danny Matthews.
Head of Income Generation at the Hospice Zoe Guest commented: “We are always amazed by the fantastic commitment shown by our supporters and volunteers and they did us proud once again with a wonderful turnout to create a river of pink walkers from Ulverston to Barrow.”
