AN auction of promises is being held at Country Harvest, near Ingleton, to raise vital funds for cancer research.

More than 55 lots are on offer including weekends away, meals, theatre tickets and cookery days, all of which have been donated by businesses and supporters of the charity.

All proceeds will be donated to North West Cancer Research which has already committed more than £600,000 for cancer research projects at Lancaster University.

The auction will take place next Friday, July 1, with doors opening at 7pm for the auction at 7.30pm.

Mike Clark, owner of Country Harvest, said: “This is a charity so close to the hearts of our customers and staff. We are only too pleased to host the event for the North West Cancer Research and wish to thank local organisers Wendy Hadwin and Brenda Head for all their hard work in organising this fundraising event.”

Anne Jackson, chief executive of North West Cancer Research, said: “Fundraising events like this are vital in allowing us to fund cancer research which has a direct impact on those living in the region. There are some great prizes up for grabs so I have no doubt it will be a fantastic night. All of the money from the evening will go directly towards funding world-class medical research to develop our understanding of cancer.”

Tickets cost £5, including wine and canapés, and are available on the door.
