TWO young men from Kendal have been handed suspended prison sentences after they teamed up to supply cannabis.

Jack Dawson and Travis Chaplow, both aged 21, were punished at Carlisle Crown Court today (THURS) having previously confessed to the offence.

Dawson, of Kirkland Avenue, pleaded guilty to being concerned in supplying the class B drug to another between April and August last year.

Chaplow, of Nether Street, also admitted this charge, along with offering to supply cocaine and supplying ecstasy to a "limited degree".

The pair were sentenced by Recorder Paul O'Brien for what was said to have been "overwhelmingly a cannabis operation".

Mobile phone data analysed by police had revealed the full extent of their supply crime, the court heard.

Cannabis was seized from both men following their arrest in August last year. Almost £1,000 cash and a debtors' list totalling around £2,500 was found by police at Dawson's home.

However, Recorder O'Brien heard the men had since sought to turn their lives around for the better, and both were in employment.

Chaplow and Dawson were given prison sentences of two years and 10 months, respectively. The judge suspended these terms for two years after hearing mitigation.

Both men must complete unpaid work and rehabilitation requirements, with Dawson also receiving a 20-day curfew.
