A KENDAL teenager will stand trial later this year after denying a dangerous driving charge.

Fletcher Leon Cannon, 18, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court yesterday (MON).

He pleaded not guilty to an allegation that he drove dangerously in a Volkswagen Polo.

This relates to an incident which is said to have occurred on July 9 this year on roads between the A6 and the A590.

During the short crown court hearing in front of Judge Barbara Forrester, Mr Cannon also denied an allegation that he assaulted a female teenager by beating her on the same date. This follows an alleged incident in Holme.

He was told by Judge Forrester that his trial, which is estimated to last around two days, would take place at the crown court in the week commencing 7th November.

In the meantime Mr Cannon, of Castle Riggs, was remanded on conditional bail.

One of his bail conditions stipulates that he must not enter Holme.
