A MAN has gone on trial accused of burgling a Kendal house and stealing two vehicles, valued at £60,000, which were parked outside.
Steven Fletcher, 39, faces three charges following a late night break-in at the town's Windermere Road. This occurred in May last year while the occupants were asleep inside.
Fletcher has pleaded not guilty to burglary. He also denies the theft of a £20,000 Kia Sportage and a £40,000 Range Rover Evoque.
The court has heard that a separate vehicle and mobile phone, both belonging to Fletcher, of Blackrod, near Bolton, were tracked in the Kendal area at around the time of the burglary.
His phone was also in the same area as the stolen vehicles were later driven south and out of Cumbria.
Fletcher denied being responsible for the crime both when quizzed by police and today in evidence to the jury.
"Were you involved?" he was asked by his barrister, Greg Hoare. Fletcher replied: "100 million per cent no."
The trial continues.
