A FAMILY'S wooden balustrade around their roof terrace at Wildman Street, Kendal, must go, say planners.
Dr Jackson Shen has been refused planning permission to keep the 1m-high fencing on a single-storey extension at the back of the property, which flooded in December 2015.
South Lakeland District Council planners said the materials and design were 'incongruous' and sat 'uncomfortably' with Sleddale Hall, the listed property next-door. Neighbours could also lose privacy from being overlooked.
Occupants of the property to the north and east wrote letters of objection according to planning documents. The occupant of Sleddale Hall, however, expressed his support to the Shen family for keeping their roof terrace.
SLDC may take enforcement action.
