I am a Staveley resident living next to the river Gowan. As a result of storm Desmond in December 2015 my river bank wall collapsed, and my private footbridge to my land at the other side of the river was rendered unsafe.
Finally in July 2016 the Environment Agency was able to commence repair work. My bridge had to be removed so that equipment could gain access, and gas and electricity cables re- routed.
After five months, and many problems and setbacks, all repairs were completed and I am now the owner of a super new bridge.
To celebrate we had a get together with friends and neighbours just before Christmas and the children cut the ribbon.
Things are now back to normal, and it has been well worth the wait.
