A VIOLENT man who robbed a 16-year-old boy in Kendal has been jailed for almost five years.

James Daniel Walker, 24, held a pair of scissors to his terrified victim's neck and nose during a night time incident on November 19 last year. He also struck the 16-year-old with a rock and tried to force a stone into his mouth, before ordering the teen to withdraw £20 from a cashpoint.

Walker was sentenced for that and a raft of other violent crimes at Carlisle Crown Court today.

He had previously pleaded guilty to the attempted robbery of another teenager, also in Kendal, on September 27. He had also admitted a common assault, possession of two offensive weapons and illegal drugs, and also two counts of wounding which related to football violence.

This occurred after Kendal Town's home game against Lancaster City in March last year.

On that occasion, the court heard, Walker used a hammer to strike and injure two Lancaster City supporters as trouble flared. One received a blow to the back of the head and the other to his arm.

Walker, of Oxenholme Road, Kendal, received a total sentence of four years and eight months from Judge Peter Davies. He heard the defendant was "genuinely remorseful" for all of his criminal conduct.

But Judge Davies told him he had been guilty of "repeated and continued acts of violence".
