A MAN is in a critical condition after a crash on the southern outskirts of Milnthorpe yesterday afternoon (February 6).
The 49-year-old man from South Cumbria had been travelling towards the town when he left the road and collided with a tree.
He was cut out of his grey Toyota RAV4 by firefighters and found to be in cardiac arrest.
The patient was treated at the scene by paramedics and members of the Bay Search and Rescue Team.
He was flown to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle by The Great North Air Ambulance Service, who were called to the scene at 4.15pm.
The police and the North West Ambulance Service also attended the incident.
Police have carried out an examination of the crash scene and the road was closed for approximately five hours.
