AROUND £2,500 was raised for good causes at the Mayor of Kendal's annual charity dinner.

The evening was designed as a platform to celebrate young people's skills and the town's sense of community - as well as raising money for homeless charity Manna House and CAP - Christians Against Poverty.

The Mayor of Kendal Cllr Stephen Coleman hosted the sell-out dinner at Kendal College. It was well supported by many groups and organisations including The High Sheriff, fellow Cumbrian civic dignitaries and local business and charities from across Kendal.

Staff and students at Kendal College put on an excellent meal and service, showcasing their skills and expertise in the hospitality industry.

Students from The Queen Katherine School entertained the guests throughout the evening with their music, choral and performing arts skills.

"Such talented professional young people were a joy to see and a credit to the school and their teachers," said town councillor Clare Feeney-Johnson.

Town Crier Richard Matthews ensured all flowed smoothly and to plan.
