ANIMAL carers at a Cumbrian zoo are celebrating the birth of a rare West African giraffe.
Keepers arrived at South Lakes Safari Zoo at Dalton-in-Furness on Tuesday morning to discover the arrival of the calf.
Both baby and mum, Eloise, are said to be doing well.
A zoo spokesperson said: "We are very proud to have the only West African Giraffes in the UK here at Safari Zoo.
"Vulnerable to extinction the captive population of these very rare giraffes is very small and our little ark may be vital for its long term future."
