Still, the sign has not been removed for good.
Kendal Town Council has placed the sign in safe storage until it is relocated to another town centre site in the near future.
South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) is spending £200,000 on creating a high-quality, versatile space suitable for hosting a wide range of events and markets. A spokesman said that the work, including the installation of new street lighting, was on schedule.
