THE operators of a Cumbrian zoo have today received their licence to run the attraction for the next four years.
Barrow Borough Council's licensing committee approved a licence application submitted by Cumbria Zoo Company Limited (CZCL) to run South Lakes Safari Zoo, at Dalton-in-Furness, on Tuesday.
Before they could receive it though, former licence holder and zoo founder David Gill had to surrender his now-expired licence to the council.
That took place this morning, meaning CZCL now have full responsibility for the zoo with Mr Gill no longer involved.
βIt is a great relief and we can now start to rebuild the reputation of the zoo and the trust of its customers,β said Chief Executive Officer Karen Brewer.
